Laurie J. McCarthy, Vice President of the Board of Trustees

Laurie grew up in Tully and graduated from TCHS in 1981. After graduation, Laurie moved from Tully and went on to earn professional degrees from LeMoyne College and Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communication.

Laurie spent the majority of her career in sales and marketing, most recently as Director of Marketing Strategy at Syracuse University. She retired from the University in 2022 after 21 years supporting University College and other schools/colleges within the University with their marketing efforts. Her education and experience have provided her with a solid foundation in marketing, marketing strategy, leadership, and communications.

Throughout her professional career Laurie served in several volunteer positions including CNY Girl Scout Council, and Book Buddies through Syracuse City School District. Laurie was recently appointed Library Trustee in April 2023 and looks forward to supporting the library’s programs and community outreach activities. A regular visitor to TFL, Laurie is anxious to learn more about what the library offers our community and to support the library in meeting its goals. She currently serves on the marketing/advertising committee.

Laurie and her husband, Tim moved back to Tully in 2001. Laurie’s mother, stepfather, son and his family all reside in Tully and are active participants in our community.
