Getting a Card
Tully Free Library has a lot to offer! With an ever changing collection of books, audiobooks, DVDs, magazines, newspapers and downloadable material, we have something for everyone. We’re also a member of the Onondaga County Library System (OCPL), which gives our patrons access to the collections of every library in the county.
How to get a Library Card
Current photo ID with current address OR
Two forms of identification which together show a current photo and current address.
Frequently used types of identification include:
current driver's license
automobile registration
National Grid or telephone bill
tax receipt
sheriff's identification
school or college identification card
or bus pass with address
Start Your Library Card Application Process Online
Patrons who are at least 13 years old can begin their library card application online.
When you register online, you will receive a temporary barcode number that you can use to request materials and access online materials like e-books and databases.
See above for acceptable forms of ID. Then come into any library and verify your current address with a picture ID or two other forms of ID to receive your permanent library card.
After you have your permanent card, then you can check out items.
At Tully Free Library, anyone ages 5+ can obtain a library card using a photo ID and proof of address. Parents or guardians are asked to provide their ID to get a card for a child. Because a child’s legal guardian is responsible for all materials checked out on the child’s card, we’re not able to issue a card to a child if a guardian isn’t present (sorry, book-loving grandparents and neighbors!).
There are no residency requirements or out-of-town fees to get a card from our library, but if you don’t live, go to school or own property in Onondaga County, other OCPL libraries may limit your access to their collections and services.
